Abstract :
Protection against an out of phase reconnection with the utility power network is one of the most important protection requirements for nonutility generation (NUG) units, since an out-of-phase reclosing will certainly damage the rotating equipment and windings of a generator. Power system test studies presented show that the power-based protection algorithm provides a very good performance for reliable detection of out-of-phase reclosing conditions.
