Abstract
The optimization of wireless sensor networks in terms of lifetime and quantity of information has been investigated recently through a large number of algorithms and routing techniques. The main contribution of the paper consists in studying the application parameters that can change the behavior of existing algorithms, as the network information collecting ability. Simulations show that due to this parameter the network decides itself when to stop operating according to the information it generates. The network lifetime becomes more flexible based on the specific requirements of user applications.
