Abstract
This paper reports case studies of capacitors for marble plant application, as an example of time varying loads. The marble process depends largely upon the thickness and polished surface of the marble block. During the cutting and polishing processes, these conditions cause strictly time-varying active and reactive power and also produce unbalanced varying load at low varying power factors. This paper presents the measurement results of an electrical parameter survey of marble loads. It also discusses the selection of capacitor banks according to harmonic currents.
