Abstract :
This paper deals with a modern approach of controlling the power flow in AC transmission lines. The control and distribution of power flow in two parallel transmission lines is implemented by applying a flexible AC transmission system which is an advanced static VAr compensator (ASVC) device. The paper deals with mathematical modeling, analysis and simulation of a PWM based ASVC. By using the ASVC device the power flow distribution can be controlled by varying the modulation index. In addition, the optimum operation position for such a FACTS device is discussed.
