Abstract :
Design, construction, and testing of a complete small-scale hydroelectric generation system for a remote research facility. Using results of a feasibility study, a system configuration is proposed to optimize performance and allow for future expansion. Within this system design, component selection tradeoffs are discussed and appropriate selections are justified. Results of testing of the system in the laboratory are presented and modifications recommended. The system was installed and has operated reliably in the field for six years.
