  • Abstract
    A High temperature superconducting (HTS) double pancake coil for electric machine was fabricated with Bi-2223 tapes. The coil was tested at different temperature by conduction-cooled method. I-V character and temperature variation under charging current was studied. The I-V curve was also calculated with an ANSYS program using an algorithm which considered the inhomogeneous current density distribution inside the Bi-2223 tape. The tested result fit well with the calculated one, which suggested that the coil was well prepared.
