  • Abstract
A visual tool for analysis and design of optical properties (reflection and transmission) of multilayer structures, is described. It includes a brief description of an S-matrix propagation algorithm for analyzing the scattering of a plane wave incident on a multilayer structure, the refractive index in each layer being a periodic function of a lateral dimension in each layer plane. Visual C++ software tools are used for obtaining a user friendly visual recipe, which requires from the user only data about the structural dimension, and required optical properties. The C++ is used to feed these inputs to a Matlab-coded program. After the analysis the results are fed back visually. Examples and results are given
