Abstract :
With numerous research projects, mainly conducted by leading companies of telecommunications, the German R&D-initiative KomNet has focused on the development and evaluation of advanced key technologies needed for the implementation of future communication networks. This contribution gives a survey on projects, field-trials and recent accomplishments.
