Abstract
Exact solutions are given for general characteristics of Fresnel zone plate antennas. These apply to large-angle (/spl sim/ 50/spl deg/) zone plate antennas, and a comparison is made with approximate results for traditional small-angle (optical) zone plates. The optical results are shown to be incompatible with the large-angle configurations that are used at microwave and millimeter wavelengths.
