Abstract :
This paper describes the three-dimensional finite element modelling of a claw pole type car alternator. The 3D finite element model takes into account the conducting and non-linear BH characteristics of the steel, the dynamic rotation of the rotor and the rectifying circuit to which the alternator is connected. The results also demonstrate how changes in the rotor pole shape affects the output of the alternator.
