Abstract :
In 2010 by order of the Russian Federation Government the first Russian dual-polarized Doppler meteorological radar “DMRL-C” was developed, produced, and passed overall tests. It has been positioned and is operated on-line at the radar position Valday, between Moscow and Saint Petersburg. In the process of “DMRL-C” developing, a range of advanced technologies have been applied to improve significantly radar technical specifications, such as: application of a high coherent klystron transmitter and an ultra-low sidelobe pulse compression technique; adaptive scanning mode with a variable pulse repetition frequency and antenna scan rate; modern methods of random processes estimation including the ultrahigh resolution spectral analysis used for measurement of meteorological formations (MF) characteristics; application of high-performance computers and signaling processors to evaluate the real-time MF intensity along with its spectral and polarized characteristics. About 140-150 radar units will be required for Russian weather network until 2018.
