Abstract
The problems of DC motor drive exact fault identification and optimally approximate fault identification are formulated and solved with the help of the frequency domain approach. Based on the parametrization of residual generators and their dynamics the problem of exact fault identification is studied. It is shown that instrument faults can be exactly identified if the system considered is stable. With the aid of the H∞ optimization technique the optimally approximate fault identification problem reduces to the well-known model matching problem, for which an algorithm is proposed. The proposed scheme is illustrated in terms of an example
