  • Abstract
An electrocardiograph (ECG) sensing device which is compatible with a magnetic resonance (MR) imager is described. It is used to synchronize the imaging sequences with a specific phase of the cardiac cycle. It is designed to detect the ECG signal and to generate a MR-sequence triggering pulse. Noise and artifacts induced by the radio-frequency pulses and magnetic field gradients inherent in MR imaging are electrically suppressed by using an isolated acquisition module and a fiber-optic cable to amplify and transmit the ECG signal.<>
