Abstract :
To enable single program be shared by multi collaborating users in the virtual network computing environment, this paper proposed a new concept of virtual program computing, that is, a single program is running in the remote computer and the graphical user interface of this program is displayed in the local computer, and also, the program accept the keyboard and mouse input from the local computer. To realize the virtual program computing, we proposed a new protocol called WSFRB protocol (windows size within remote frame buffer protocol) based on virtual network computing. The WSFRB protocol clips the size of remote frame buffer by using the window size and position of the running program in remote server. Therefore the data transmitted in the network can be reduced greatly compare to FRB protocol. The application of the WSFRB protocol and virtual program computing in the NMS integration systems are investigated in detail. Experiments and application have demonstrated that the virtual program computing offered a great flexibility in creating a new collaborating computing environment.
