  • Abstract
In this paper we present OpenCA, a framework enabling any Conditional Access System (CAS) to be deployed on a Forward Link Only (FLOtrade) network. The OpenCA framework has been developed in conjunction with leading CAS providers. The goals are to: (1) support rapid deployment of various business models; (2) give operators the freedom to seamlessly switch the CAS solution without replacing devices; and (3) enable the simultaneous use of multiple CAS solutions. In this paper, we provide an overview of the OpenCA framework and describe the CAS-specific signal delivery mechanism and head-end architecture in the MediaFLO System.
