Abstract :
In this paper hybrid broadband/broadcast systems are analyzed. The focus is on the ongoing DVB standardization and network architecture, as well as use cases discussed in the standardization bodies. Based on use cases the technical requirements for set-top boxes are derived, and compared to current technology and products. The effects of conditional access are not addressed in this document.
