Abstract :
Transmitter diversity is one of the most promising techniques for improving the transmission quality under multipath fading environments without increasing the equipment size at the reception side. In this paper the effect of the fading frequency and antenna correlation are presented theoretically for transmitter diversity applied to microcellular TDMA/TDD mobile radio systems. To cope with degradation due to fast fading, linear predictive transmitter diversity (LPTD) is proposed. Using the measured received level just before the end of the received burst signal, linear prediction of the signal level of the next time slot at the reception side can be made. The effectiveness of prediction is quantitatively shown by means of computer simulation
