Abstract :
Digital cellular systems and wireless data are seemingly a perfect match. However, there are many issues with respect to functional architecture and signalling which require careful analysis and planning. After introducing the planned services in Europe and North America, this paper examines potential architectures and their consequence to signalling, specifically for data services. GSM and PCS architectures are discussed along with an approach from Motorola
