Abstract
The problem of image noise reduction is discussed in this paper. One of the most efficient filters in this area is Recursive Median Filter (RMF). To improve the performance of RMF, a new adaptive structure for RMF is introduced using the concept of entropy. In the proposed filter, which is called Adaptive Recursive Median Filter (ARMF), the size of moving window is changed adaptively based on the entropy value of moving window. Simulation results show that the ARMF provides improved performance over the RMF in noise reduction with preserving small details.
