  • Abstract
We are nearing an age when computers in huge numbers will be embedded in the environments around us, keeping track of the real world and interacting with human beings. The TRON Project has been a pioneer in this concept of computerized environments, devoting the past ten years to developing the fundamental and application technologies required for building highly functionally distributed systems (HFDS). The author presents an overview of the TRON Project from the standpoint of infrastructures for computerized environments
