Abstract :
Acoustic emission (AE) is a dynamic nondestructive measuring and testing method, which is widely used in safety and integrity evaluation of structure and material. This paper investigates the relationship of micro cracking process of the pipeline material and acoustic emission phenomenon in detail, and establishes the connection between micro cracking of the material and AE counts. Experiments were carried out on a stainless steel pipeline with 100 mm outer diameter to show the relationship between micro cracking process of structure and material and acoustic emission signal. Nielsen-Hsu pencil break method was used to simulate the micro cracking process.
