Abstract
This paper describes the experience of retrofitting the boiler feed pumps of fossil generating units in the USA during 1985-87 in an EPRI field test program. While this work was done 10 years ago, the lessons learned from the work apply today. Most of the ASD technology used in these tests is still in use today with several orders of magnitude better reliability. This EPRI work has led to a US/Russian study by EPRT and its Russian counterpart, VNIIE, of retrofitting boiler feed pumps in Russia
