Abstract
This paper presents a dynamic model and optimal controller design for a stand-alone photovoltaic-diesel generating unit. The controller objectives are to limit the continual variations on load bus voltage and frequency as well as extracting the maximum photovoltaic generator power. The dynamic behaviour of the closed-loop system following common disturbances such as load changes, solar insolation variations and three-phase short circuit is investigated
