Abstract :
Sustained competitive advantages require continuous improvement for a company to maintain its strength or weakness in the marketplace. Information technologies play a crucial role for a competitive future. To create sustainable growth, role and performance measurement of information technologies in management processes such as strategic planning, audit etc. steadily increases in today´s highly competitive business world. In strategic planning process, there are three dimensions: process, tool and methodology. To create more value added during the strategic planning process, tool should cover all requirements of managers and system administrators. The main objective of this exploratory paper is to focus on technology performance criteria for a tool considering nature of strategic planning process in terms of three technology alternatives such as client-based, web-based and legacy-based systems. Technology performance criteria are questioned during two in-depth interviews with a manager and a technical system administrator. Importance of listed factors and position of mentioned technologies are evaluated.
