            Abstract :
In order to grasp the water forms and sedimentation of the Yellow River flow in Shapotou river bends and to exert reservoir benefit, 3-D velocity, water depth and river-bed level of some classical cross-sections were measured and analyzed using “River Cat” system. In addition, the velocity of river bends were simulated using k - ε turbulent model and Finite Volume Method. Good consistent between numerical and measured results indicates that the model can reflect the velocity distribution and the circulation phenomenon of river bends.
