  • Abstract
T-wave offset (Toff) identification may be jeopardized by the presence of noise and Toff-dispersion among leads. Use of the 15-lead (I, II, III, aVr, aVl, aVf, V1 to V6, X, Y, Z) dominant T wave (DTW15) proved to enhance Toff-identification reliability. However, since only 8 leads are independent, results could be biased by the data redundancy and the question arises as to whether the 8-independent-lead dominant T wave (DTW8) provides the same findings. The Daskalov and Christov´s method for automatic Toff localization was applied to DTW8 and DTW15 of 46 control healthy subjects (CHS) and 103 acute myocardial infarction patients (AMIP). In both populations, Toff measurements were statistically equivalent (CHS: 340 vs. 340 ms; AMIP: 325 vs. 320 ms) and strongly correlated (CHS: 0.97; AMIP: 0.88). Thus, Toff identification from DTW15 is not significantly biased by the data redundancy and both DTW8 and DTW15 provide reliable Toff determination.
