Abstract :
This paper describes a novel separation technique for chemical extraction from an aqueous two-phase system. The basic device for this technology is a newly developed large droplet (up to 5nl) liquid ejector that can also fountain a tall and narrow liquid column (over 22 mm high and less than 1 mm in diameter). With this technology, the separation of two liquids can be done in a precise amount through digital control of the number of the droplets or through analog control of the liquid-column height, without any mixing between the two liquids.
