Abstract :
This paper describes the development and implementation of a unique test tool/environment to support Tactical Data Information Link (TADIL) communication link integration, test, and simulation experiments. Both the software and hardware principal components, as well as their configurations, are discussed. Three separate and distinct operating modes of the JTD/MLTD system are addressed, and these include (1) host surrogate configuration, (2) JTIDS/MIDS surrogate configuration, and (3) interface monitor configuration. The paper provides highlights of integration testing and TADIL test message traffic emulation, for those JTD/MLTD systems installed both at military test and certification facilities as well as private industry sites. The paper addresses near term and future directions of the development programs, as well as recommendations for enhancements to the fielded systems
