Abstract :
A new intelligent algorithm, adaptive mutation particle swarm optimization algorithm (AMPSO), is presented to handle optimal substation locating and sizing problem. The proposed AMPSO, which combines the idea of GA in PSO, displays more excellent global optima searching performance than PSO. The model of the problem involving both the substation construction investment and the geographic information makes the given solution more practical in distribution planning process. The proposed approach is tested by a realistic planning project to show its effectiveness and efficiency.
