            Abstract : 
It is new application to use doubly-fed induction motor (DFIM) in pump stations in China. This paper presents the design and experiment of a 155 kW DFIM system. In order to solve the problem which occurs during the motor changing its working condition from asynchrony to AC excitation, a strategy of two-step AC excitation is proposed. Three-phase half-wave cycleconverter and stator flux-orientated vector control are adopted to achieve speed control and power factor (PF) control. This system has been experimented in a pump station. Experimental waveforms and analysis are given.
