Abstract
We present an efficient finite element-boundary integral (FE-BI) solution. Instead of replacing the FE-BI system with the FE-ABC system and improving the solution through iteration, we use the finite element-absorbing boundary condition (FE-ABC) matrix as a preconditioner and then seek the solution using a Krylov subspace based method. Both mathematical analysis and numerical results are presented to show the high effectiveness of the preconditioner and the fast convergence of the iterative solution.
