  • Abstract
With the development of information technology, the application of virtual reality technology will be crescent in the power system. In this paper, the advantage and shortage of the traditional geographical information system of power transmission network is introduced. The scheme of setting up the geographical information system of three-dimensional power transmission network based on VR technology is proposed. The relevant techniques about the 3D geographical information system (GIS) are analyzed. The realization that integrated the VRML and Java with an example is described. According to the function analysis, the proposed scheme can overcome well the deficiency of the two-dimensional GIS. It may improve the production efficiency of the power transmission division of the power grid enterprise and reduce the operation cost and safeguard of the transmission line. It is very important to raise the economical operation of whole power system.
