Abstract :
This paper presents a permanent magnet actuator to substitute spring mechanic actuator of air circuit breaker. The permanent magnet actuator has only several components and has high reliability. The magnetic field of the actuator is investigated by finite element method to obtain electromagnetic force. Direct discretization method is employed to consider the effect of the PM so as to standardize the discretization process of the whole calculation domain. The computed result of ANSYS software validates the computed result of the paper. Based on the computed result, a prototype is manufactured to match the air circuit breaker well .
