Abstract :
The workflow technology handing workflow exceptions in the workflow management system (WFMS) was relatively weak. Through the analysis of the causes of the workflow exceptions, I propose a workflow exception handling system (WFEHS) which can deal with the foreseeable and unforeseeable workflow exceptions. It mainly consists of two subsystems, one is a subsystem for exception warning and the other one is a subsystem for exception handling. The former mainly forecasts the exceptions which may occur in WFMS, the latter is used for the exceptions handlings which contain the causes and the solutions of the exceptions. WFEHS has a unique method for tracking and handling exceptions. This paper presents some new concepts which contain impact factor, the intercommunion of the active nodes´ operational information, the influence value of the operator, the judgment of loop´s attribute and others. They are good bases for the tracking and handling exceptions. So WFEHS will play a very important role in the hierarchical modeling workflow management system.
