Title :
Current state-of-the-art in near-field antenna measurements
Author_Institution :

Abstract :
This paper reviews advances that have been made in near-field antenna measurements over the last ten years and which have resulted in very wide application of this measurement technique. With an estimated 200 or more near-field ranges world-wide, and applications ranging from cellular phone antennas to large phased arrays and complex multi-beam communication satellite antennas, the near-field technique has proven to be a reliable, effective and accurate method that offers an attractive alternative to conventional far-field, anechoic range and compact range measurements. Progress has been made to make the measurements system more accurate, more user-friendly and increase the measurement speed. With these improvements and the foundation of reliable theoretical analysis, the near-field techniques are receiving wide acceptance and use.
