Abstract :
Fixed links operating in the 38 GHz band are increasingly demanded in volume by newly licensed fixed and mobile telecommunications operators. Additionally 38 GHz links are being slowly adopted by private telecommunications operators as a viable `self-provided´ alternative to leased lines. 38 GHz has been identified by a number of sources as the largest growth area in the supply of fixed radio-relay systems as lower frequency bands become congested, and new short-haul applications emerge. This paper reviews the history of the 38 GHz band, outlines some of the noticable trends in demand for applicable products, and briefly examines typical product architectures
