Abstract :
This paper investigates performance implications of distributed control for optical burst switching (OBS) networks. It is analysed the Common Control Channel Optical Burst Switched (C3-OBS) network architecture, which enables resource reservation planning at each node, embodying a shift in OBS networking paradigm, from isolated to distributed control. It is proposed a model for the C3-OBS optical cross connect node and discussed its implementation. A performance assessment of C3-OBS networks is presented, including a performance comparison with conventional OBS networks for several topologies.
