Abstract :
A highly stable 42 GHz transmitter and receiver system using state-of-the-art commercial components is outlined. This equipment is intended for use in narrowband propagation measurements. A cost effective and versatile IF system has been developed to compensate for frequency drift. The system has been used for Doppler measurements of rainfall and other hydrometeors and has proven very sensitive in this application. Scatter from rainfall, snow and fog events has been recorded
