Abstract :
Within the framework IDC (infinitely divisible cascades) we propose a new model for network traffic, namely the fully stable cascades. The model can capture both scaling behaviors and burstiness of network traffic in terms of stable distribution and its properties. Another advantage is that it elaborates the relationship of the two aspects simply based on the additive property of stable distribution. Several traffic traces are tested and fitted with our model well.
