Abstract :
An internal antenna configuration that includes a lossy dielectric cover is investigated. This configuration delivers broader bandwidth and acceptable gain although the efficiency of the total system will suffer due to ohmic losses in the chassis. These experiments help to quantify the effects of lossy dielectric plastic beside microstrip patch antennas and indicate that internal antenna designs can be compatible with lossy plastic chassis.
