Abstract
In this paper, we propose an improved method, the ´adaptive stream distribution´, which overcomes much performance degradation in the available 3D-SPIHT parallel realization. Parallel realization method (Y. Hua and B. Hu, IEEE TENCON Conf., pp. 343-346, 2004) by breaking the wavelet transform into a number of spatio-temporal trees which can be encoded and decoded independently has proved to be a memory-efficient implementation of 3D-SPIHT. However, the low memory is at price of much degradation in performance. Our proposed method has efficiently modified the process of assembling target stream. The simulation results show that, for the same compression ratio, the quality of video by using our improved method is better than that by using the available method about 0.1-1 dB (PSNR).
