Abstract :
It would be quite significant to mention that the most favored technology in the Ottoman Empire during the nineteenth century was the electric telegraphy. This technology did not only give the central government more direct control over the local officials, but also provided ordinary people and merchants with fast communication facilities. This paper summarizes the transfer of electric telegraph technology to the Ottoman Empire and its implementation by the watchmakers in a small workshop.
