Abstract :
A modular voltage source inverter, with GTO thyristors and PWM control at 1 kHz, is presented. Emphasis is on the active protection for short circuit current limit, short circuit prevention, and power supply failure. Suitable snubbers allowing the efficient operation of these active protections are also depicted and component values estimated. Current mode instantaneous feedback voltage control is employed in order to improve the inverter performance
