Abstract :
If we take a look at the development of optical networks in recent years, we see, increasing demands on capacity both the terms of the amount of the transmitted information, and the actual quality of transmitted information. The growing demands on transmission quality can be achieved by powerful reservation protocols, which are an essential part of networks with burst switching. In this article we deal with reservation protocol designed according to well-known S-RFORP protocol. Our goal is to describe the behavior of proposed reservation protocol in conditions of setting the priority for incoming bursts with the QoS utilization, in case that OBS nodes wouldn´t have enough resources, for burst transmitting. In this paper we compare the transmission with and without the priority set for incoming bursts.
