Abstract
In this paper a novel algorithm, termed multivariate correlation coefficient decomposition (MVCCD), is proposed to map coherent sources in the human brain. The method decomposes the multi-channel mutual correlation coefficient (CC) matrix into individual CC between the individual channel and the weighted sum of all the channels, and utilizes the spatial distribution of the individual CC as the imaging map. Compared with power mapping, computer simulation and VEP data tests show that the individual CC map is more sensitive to coherent sources with different energy levels, and it is robust to noise. Thus, it is of practical value.
