Abstract
Contrary to other domains in electric power system control and management, the part of expert systems is usually limited to provide for proposals or suggestions, the execution of which remains in the human operator´s responsibility. On the other hand, expert systems have proved as efficient and powerful counsellors especially in abnormal situations and under time pressure. Their ability to autonomously perform switching and setting is demonstrated for the two examples of power system restoration and of the energy management of a solar power system
