Abstract :
This paper presents a mathematical model and simulations for an induction motor with short circuit case in its stator winding. The case is specified as temporary by means of a not permanent short circuit. Short circuit occurrences consisting of starting and ending points of short circuits are deeply investigated in this paper by simulating various cases at different number of shorted turns and mechanical loads. Sequence current is used for analysis and detection tool of short circuit cases. Simulation result shows that negative sequence current is the more effective to detect the occurrence of a fault than positive and zero sequence.
