Abstract
This paper develops a simulated image model (SIM) for the computation of the potential distribution due to buried electrodes in multilayered media structures. The motivation behind the SIM is to modify the complex image technique used for the computation of the layered media spatial Green´s functions so that the resulting images have real locations instead of complex ones. The physical interpretation of the resulting image model then becomes very similar to that of classical image theory for a current source above a perfectly conducting ground plane. In this paper we extend the use of SIM to show how it can be applied to accurately and efficiently compute the potential profiles of high voltage DC fields in multilayered media. Numerical results are obtained to verify the efficiency, high accuracy and versatility of the SIM model.
