Abstract :
The last thirty years has seen the development of digital processing, initially viewed as being a reliable way of obtaining approximations to conventional analogue techniques. However, this new way of processing signals is not simply a degraded version of familiar analogue processes. The theme of this paper is that digital signal processing is a revolutionary advance on analytic methods with its own ways of conceptualising the processes required, and enabling new kinds of functions to be achieved
