Abstract
Using L-probe patch antennas as elements, a simple series-fed 8-element array antenna is designed and tested. The antenna array is designed to be a PCS base station antenna with an operating frequency of 1.8 GHz. The aluminum rod is employed as an air transmission line, and without using any microwave substrates, a low cost patch antenna array is built. An impedance bandwidth of 8% (SWR/spl les/1.5) and average gain of 14.5dBi have been achieved. The radiation pattern is stable across the passband with low cross polarization.
